Cian is the apprentice, in Netherlust called a monitor, a son of Spring Court, young enough that his earnestness still reads as charm rather than danger. He fetches drinks, works the coat check, restocks the bar, and learns, mostly by watching Bronwyn, to read what a room wants before the room can say it. He is sharp, he’s smart, he’s idealistic and rather naive. He wears his hair in a wild tousled mess over his dark olive complexion. He is the sincere one in a house that runs on artifice, which makes him either its conscience or its weakest joint, depending on the night. He is the one who will fall in love and mean it, in a place where meaning it is the most reckless thing you can do.
