Kings have not existed in Faerie for a millennium. The four courts govern together in the Parliament of the Courts, a joint body built on democratic ideals and mutual obstruction. No single court rules alone, and every law is a negotiation that can be blocked. Parliament has owned the portals since its beginning, and with them the rules that govern every crossing: the visas that leash human travel, the escorts that shadow it, the ban that turns magic into contraband, the duty that binds whoever keeps a door.
