For as long as most faeries care to remember, Summer Court has held the reins. It is the court of order and of the long patience of institutions. From the outside it appears to govern with the confident morality of liberal institutions: rules that are supposed to apply to everyone and contracts that hold; a bureaucracy that is often self-serving and, in the end, preferable to what it keeps out. Its current majority in the Parliament gives it the most say over the portals and the appointment of the people who run them, but Summer has been losing political ground for decades. Bronwyn is a daughter of the Summer Court. And though the house is nominally autonomous, Netherlust must still adhere to Summer’s governance, at least while Summer holds the majority. Summer will tell you it keeps the peace. It is not wrong. It simply never mentions what it costs to keep the other courts at bay.
